Lots of Canadians in BETM Toronto

Post by porschesrule »

According to Richard Ouzounian, theatre critic for the Toronto Star, there are lots more Canadians in the Toronto production of BETM than everyone thought there'd be originally. He lists the ones we know like Kate Hennig, Cesar Corales and Myles Erlick, as well as NBS student Marcus Pei -- but then goes on to list eight others -- but not what roles they'll be playing.

Here's the article he posted earlier this evening:

I tried to find a complete cast list posted somewhere, but couldn't. Has anyone else seen one yet?

I was wondering who is playing dad, Jackie Elliot, in the Toronto production?? The main web site still has not been updated. I have been able to piece together who is playing most other major parts based on advanced publicity. I was hoping Armand Schultz continued in the part as I thought he had really grown into the character during the Chicago run.

So far as I know, he is continuing the role in Toronto. Kate Hennig came over from the Broadway production, having swapped out with Emily Skinner, but I believe the other adult principals, including Armand as Dad and Patrick Mulvey as Tony, have moved with the show to Toronto.

Ellen is correct. The cast is essentially the same as at the close of the Chicago run. The only lead change is Kate Hennig as Mrs. W. Otherwise, there are several new adult ensemble members, three new ballet girls and a new Small Boy.

Though there is no one place where the information is listed, I've compiled the cast members from a variety of sources and conversations and placed them here if anyone's interested: http://www.theskykid.com/billy-elliot-m ... formation/ Just click on the charts for "1st Tour"

Thanks as always for compiling all of this information PR. I am especially surprised that the Toronto production does not have a full time Tall Boy, and instead will use the alternate Michaels to play the role. While this might save costs in the short term, I believe it is not a good idea in the long run. We have seen where the Tall Boy role is important as a way to bring new Billys or Michaels into the picture.
