And to add to Ellen's comment, I'm sure this production didn't have near the budget for the extensive training that the West End cast enjoy. That being said, do the ticket prices reflect this? Curious.

The ticket cost me 27 euro each 4th row in the stalls.
Just to compare I had a great 3 course meal in the restaurant next to the theatre for 12 euro!

Just to calm everybody down, i think Kaspar (Billy) is a great kid, good voice, good acting, if he wants it, he will have a great career on stage, but not in a role where he needs to dance.

I will write my review tomorrow, now I need to go, I'm going to see the show again :)

A big surprise for Billy!
At the end of the show Dad asked the audience attention and Tony left the stage. I did not understand what was going on, but soon Tony appeared with a cute puppy and Kaspar (Billy) was over the moon with joy!

It reminded me of Liam's final show, but this was only the last show before a 3 week long break.

I asked the guys next to me what the occasion was, but they were from Finland and they understood as much as I did :)

I asked one of the staff and she explained, Kaspar wanted to have a dog a long time and his mother came to see the show today and fulfilled his son's dream.

The puppy will have to be named Billy!

But instead he has been given an equally British name:

The company who bought in the musical and performed it hasn't payed about
80% of the wages to the actors. (About 50 000 Euros).
The company Noorteater has declared a bankruptcy; they have also not payed
any taxes.
Apparently they expected a bigger income (the performances were about 70%
full), the director of the company refuses to answer any questions. They
haven't even payed the director and choreographer.

Sad Times for them!

Does anyone know if the UK company who sells the rights to other
countries, check the background of the buyers? As the founder of the
Noorteater company was sacked from a famous theatre (he used to be the
head of the theatre) because of a money-stealing scandal.

The company that licenses BETM (and the vast majority of Broadway shows) is Music Theatre International. It is not a UK company; its business address is 421 W. 54th Street, 2nd Fl. New York, NY 10019.

I believe the way licensing works is that a fee is paid to obtain a license. Once the show begins, a per-show fee is accrued, depending upon the number, and/or value, of tickets sold ('the House').

I would imagine that a financial background check would be made of any professional company or individual entering into a license, especially one that may have had disputes in the past or is unknown to MTI. A production company may have to enter into an agreement to pay a minimum amount as a royalty, whether or not seats are sold.

Shows close early all the time. I would imagine that any defaults affecting cast, crew and venue (regrettable as they may be) would be the liability of the production company; disputes would be between their union and the company, and not MTI. BETM has faced losses in one or more of its venues in the past, which had to be covered by its parent companies.

Can anyone add to this rather limited reply?
