Here is a review of BETM performed by Airedale Academy. Full marks for retaining the authentic language in a school production!

The cast includeds a talented and passionate group of young people aged between 13 and 18, with the leading role played by Rory Fraser, a year 10 student who already has a number of showbiz credits under his belt.

Rory starred in the RSC’s production of Matilda in the West End where he played Bruce Bogtrotter. He dances with Myra Tiffin Performing Arts School where he trains in contemporary, jazz, ballet, tap, modern, street dance and gymnastics to name just a few!

He recently competed in Destination Dance competition in London where he came first with his contemporary duet and second overall for the whole competition with a score of 95.5 out of 100.

There are TWO former West End Matilda cast members in this show:
The lead role will be played by Rory Fraser, a Year 10 student who has already made his West End debut as Bruce Bogtrotter in the RSC's production of Matilda. A keen dancer, he said playing Billy was his 'dream'.

The role of Debbie will be played by Lauren Marler who performed alongside Rory in Matilda and dances with the prestigious London Contemporary Dance School.

This is an article about the upcoming presentation of BETM by Christleton High School, Chester.
Year 7 student Ben Rackham, from Barrow, landed the dream role of Billy following hard fought auditions back in February and has been working hard to master the lengthy and complex choreography required for the show, as well as learning a lot of lines and songs.

The show’s Director, Simon Phillips, said “Ben is a star; he is so modest and takes everything in his stride. As one of the youngest boys in year 7 he will still be just 11 years old when he plays the part next month and the weight of the whole show rests on him in many ways. But, he is a very confident and talented performer and will really wow the audiences, I’m sure.”
Year 7 corresponds to 6th Grade in North America.
