A Christmas Story, The Musical!

Post by CJ-Rochester »

I thought we already had a thread for this, but was I unable to find it so am starting a new one.

"A Christmas Story, The Musical!", a new musical based on the 1983 holiday movie classic, will play a November – December 2012 holiday run at Broadway theatre to be announced. An open audition for children between the ages of 8-13 will be held on Saturday June 16, 2012 at Pearl Studios (500 8th Avenue, 12th floor).

This may be yet another opportunity for some of the talented former BETM child cast members.

This is a really good show. I saw it in Chicago last winter and it is really good. The songs were well written and the kid as well as the adult actors were exceptional. If I remember correctly river alexander, former tour tall boy, was in this show before if went on tour. If you can see the show. I enjoyed it immensely. would have seen it twice but the tickets were quite expensive.

Here are three rehearsal videos from an event to introduce the show and cast to the press. "A Christmas Story, The Musical!" will play from November through December at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. The cast features Johnny Rabe as Ralphie and Rochester native John Bolton as the old man. This looks like a fun time. They seem to have done a great job of capturing the iconic moments from the movie, as well as adding a unique Broadway twist to the leg lamp scene. :D

A Christmas Story, The Musical is one of the next stage shows to be given a live TV broadcast this December on Fox. They are still looking for a kid to play the starting role of Ralphie.

Quite a few Billys and Michaels over the years have played Ralphie, including: Sam Faulkner, Michael Harp, Ethan Eisenberg, Evan Lennon, Lucas Moir.

Eleven-year-old Andy Walken of Seattle, Washington, will take on the central role of Ralphie in Fox's broadcast on December 17th. If you watch the video in the article you can see he clearly has the personality. Congrats Andy!
