Post by kport »

This article describes the pressures of balancing the pressures of stage life and growing up for acting children - and includes interviews with former Billys:

The picture of Rhys Kosakowski, who is now dancing with the Houston Ballet, is a reminder that "time flies". He certainly isn't "Billyesque" in stature any more

The other interesting tidbit is that three of the original four Billys in Australia are now living/performing in the US.

From the article:

The four boys who played the 11-year-old, rough-diamond ballet dancer in Billy Elliot The Musical became overnight sensations in 2007 and shared a Helpmann Award for their work. Seven years later, most are continuing in show business.

Rarmian Newton is pursuing an acting career. He starred in Dance Academy and played Hiccup in the stage spectacular How to Train Your Dragon before heading to New York. He now has a regular role in the pilot television drama The Family, starring Joan Allen.

Nick Twiney is also living in the United States but has redirected his energies to music. He's studying jazz in Boston.

For Lochlan Denholm, the end of his stint on Billy Elliot brought him back to earth with a bump. Living with up to 10 boys in the "Billy House" for actors in the show had been "like a sleepover every night", he told The Age in 2009. "Then you're at home, sitting there and so bored, staring at a wall and there's nothing to do." He is no longer actively involved in the performing arts.

I just was told that Lochlan Denholm played in Anything Goes in Sydney

That would suggest that my info about another Billy, Josh gates might not be accurate.

In a discussion re the former Billies from OZ , it was pointed that Josh Gates has in addition played in Mamma Mia and My Fair Lady in the last 2 years. Good runs in both cases
