Alex Ko

Post by CJ-Rochester »

I saw this posted today in another forum. Has anyone else heard about this newest Billy?

"Alex Ko of Iowa City will be performing the role of Billy Elliot on Broadway."

If it's true then welcome Alex!

Alex was mentioned on the old forum before it closed and this one took its place. No official announcement has been made, but it is pretty certain that he will be starting soon as a Billy. Whoever does the Wikipedia page for Billy Elliot the Musical has already set a place holder for him. 8-)

Here is that lovely dance performance in its entirety.

Wow! If he can act and sing, he'll be phenomenal. He came in with very strong ballet and gymnastics.

Do people have a sense of when they "retire" Billys? Two part question: is it only voice cracking that does a Billy in, or can simply growing too tall seal his fate? Also, is there a "usual" time that the producers like to make the switch? July? September? (Or should I post this in the topic Which Billy When?)

I think you can be assured that Alex will be making his Broadway debut as Billy very, very soon.

Tony Award winner Kiril Kulish, one of the three young boys who created the title role in Billy Elliot the Musical, will play his final performance at the Imperial Theatre Oct. 3 at 8 PM. He will be succeeded by Alex Ko, who joins the cast of rotating Billys the week of Oct. 5.
