Six Degrees of Billy Elliot

Post by kport »

A variation of the parlor game 'Six Degrees of Separation', where in six steps (no matter how obscure) you link a person, place or thing with Billy Elliot (character, film, or play). Best if the link starts with something in today's news:

Here is my first go:

1 The Archbishop of Canterbury

2 The Archbishop lives in Lambeth Palace

3. Lambeth Palace is in Lambeth, south of the River Thames

3. Nearby is a street named 'Lambeth Walk'

4. 'The Lambeth Walk' is a song and dance made popular in the West End play 'Me and My Girl'

5. 'Me and My Girl' premiered in the Victoria Palace Theatre, London, in 1937, and had a successful run there.

6. 'Billy Elliot the Musical' also premiered at the VPT and continues to have a successful run.

Is this game any good? No answer is 'right' or 'wrong' - just a bit of fun.

If anyone wants to try it, I suggest starting with another of today's news headliners: 'Hillary Clinton'.

1. On 12th July 2013 a pair of researchers, Richard Holme of the University of Liverpool in the U.K. and Olivier de Viron of the University of Paris, in France has found that the length of Earth’s days follows a cyclic oscillation pattern every 5.9 years.

2. 5.9 years is the average circulation life of a dollar bill.

3. Bill Haley and the Comets released "Rock around the Clock" in 1954

4. 1954 film "Prince Valiant" - Robert Wagner played the Prince

5. The new Royal Prince is named George

6. George Maguire was one of the three original boys to play Billy onstage.
