"My mother thanks you etc"
James Cagney in "Yankee Doodle Dandy".
How about this one?
"This is the beginning of a beautiful friendship."
Who said it in which film?
Quotable Quotes.....
Re: Quotable Quotes.....
Rick, to Louie, near the end of 'Casablanca'.
I think the correct quote is "Louie, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship."
Okay, now for something completely different (no, that is not the quote!):
Who, and in which film, said this:
"If I could only have one food for the rest of my life? That's easy-Pez. Cherry-flavored Pez. No question about it."

Re: Quotable Quotes.....
Said by Gold Hat in 'The Treasure of the Sierra Madre'; but later parodied (I think) in 'Blazing Saddles'.joninfinity wrote:Ha ha... Stand By Me Jerry O' Connell (My favorite line, "I'll be relaxing with my thoughts on the other side..."
Next:
"If you are the police, where are your badges?"
"Badges? We ain't got no badges.... We don't have to show you no stinking badges..."
Now...three separate quotes from the same character in the same movie:
'Every man dies, not every man really lives.'
'It's all for nothing if you don't have freedom.'
(The next one may give it away:)

OK: This young actor has been cited, in a previous post, as the speaker of a quote from a more recent movie. This is one he made when he was much younger. The movie? The young actor? It is a very dark, tragic film:
We're not supposed to be friends, you and me. We're meant to be enemies. Did you know that?

Here's Johnny!
Well, Ed McMahon on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.
Back then to films: The film alone will do"
'Moral principles! What's a school boy to do with moral principles? Feed him one end and beat him the other! That's education!'
Let me give you a clue: 1940 film.

Re: Quotable Quotes.....
It actually is from a film. The answer to that is Jack Nicholson's character in "The Shining" :

So I am going to take a turn here with --
"The sun will come out tomorrow. Fat chance!"

Re: Quotable Quotes.....
Julie Walters. What she says when she asks Mr Braithwaite to play in Billy Elliot (The Movie).
My quote is from the 1940 film 'Tom Brown's School Days'. Just to keep the thread honest.
Now to me: the movie; the person (or actor) speaking:
It was right after the revolution, right after peace had been concluded. And Ethan Allen went to London to help our new country conduct its business with the king. The English sneered at how rough we are and rude and simple-minded and on like that, everywhere he went. Til one day he was invited to the townhouse of a great English lord. Dinner was served, beverages imbibed, time passed as happens and Mr. Allen found he needed the privy. He was grateful to be directed to this. Relieved, you might say. Mr. Allen discovered on entering the water closet that the only decoration therein was a portrait of George Washington. Ethan Allen done what he came to do and returned to the drawing room. His host and the others were disappointed when he didn't mention Washington's portrait. And finally his lordship couldn't resist and asked Mr. Allen had he noticed it. The picture of Washington. He had. Well what did he think of its placement? Did it seem appropriately located to Mr. Allen? And Mr. Allen said it did. The host was astounded. "Appropriate? George Washington's likeness in a water closet?" "Yes," said Mr. Allen, "where it will do good service. The world knows nothing will make an Englishman shit quicker than the sight of George Washington." I love that story.
Great man. The story (from his perspective) touched all the bases.
