Well here is an indication :
..Brodie, from Blackpool, is currently a pupil at Layton Primary School. He said: “I was very happy when I was told I’d got in. I loved doing the audition and it was my dream to get in. When I grow up I want to be in the Royal Ballet or play Billy Elliot in the West End... :P

According to his school (St. John's Priory), this young man, Bobby Ratcliffe, has a legitimate shot at being a future Billy:

James Forster (a proper Geordie young'n - of Darlington, County Durham) has been awarded a place at the Royal Ballet School at the 'advanced' age of 9.............of course, he has been called the region's 'Billy Elliot'!

Knock 'em dead, kidda! He may - or may not - become a Billy but, in a way, he is Billy.

Nat Sweeney - new Billy?

Post by kport »

I will place this here, until confirmation is made or a Moderator feels it is appropriate to create a proper thread:
Good Luck to Nat Sweeney who leaves us today to live, learn and rehearse in London for the next 2 months before he performs in the heart of London's West End as the title role in the musical "Billy Elliot". We wish him well and look forward to seeing him perform in the summer term.

It would appear to be a credible public announcement from his school.

Thanks for that find!

...but quite unprofessional of the school, isn't it? I guess the company won't be pleased by this!

Anyway, in two months it's May 12th. :)

I believe Redmand Rance's school did exactly the same thing, at the end of the spring term three years ago.

I am sure the company would not begrudge a school community saying goodbye and good luck to one of its members, embarking on a career in the musical.

However, I predict we will hear little more until his debut!

Seems like the company's preference is for a rota of 5 Billy's.

Shouldn't this thread have been put in the London section, not the general category?
