Saw Matilda last night in San Francisco. Cal plays Nigel, and doesn't understudy anyone! Its amazing the level of choreography kids can do. They aren't quite as precise as what I saw in the West End, which is understandable for a tour show, but its a great show.
Re: Cal Alexander - Small Boy
I got to see cal in Matilda this past Wednesday and omg he was wonderful. I especially loved it when he ran onto the stage screaming. He did a wonderful job in Matilda and I can't wait to see show again this Saturday.

Cal has announced on Instagram he will be leaving the Matilda tour January 10th. I am sad he will have left the show before the tour reaches Rochester, but look forward to whatever he does next. Happy trails, Cal!

This is a remarkable article about a remarkable young man who, I sincerely hope, will play Billy Elliot one day:

Cal is quite the speller, too, according to this article in The Guardian:
https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2017/ ... washingtonA legion of America’s brightest schoolchildren have descended on Washington for the 90th Scripps National Spelling Bee, a three-day competition that begins on Tuesday and has evolved into a classic element of Americana.......
.......The competitors are high achievers across the board.......
......Calvin Alexander Jr, a sixth-grader from Shreveport, Louisiana, has toured with the Broadway shows Billy Elliot, A Christmas Story and Matilda the Musical.
