Re: Southampton Reviews
TRAP yourselves in folks for the emotional rollercoaster that is Billy Elliot.
This musical has you laughing one minute and crying the next and by the end of the three-hour show you feel exhausted but elated at the same time.
It’s an unlikely tale for a smash-hit musical but it’s worked splendidly for 11 years in the West End and is showing no sign of stopping now it’s hit the road.

Re: Southampton Reviews
It was absolutely incredible! I was blown away. I cried, laughed and wanted to watch it all over again the minute it finished.

http://overtures.org.uk/?p=12200When I first saw Billy Elliot, over 10 years ago I wrote, “This is not a time to beat about the bush. Billy Elliot strikes me as the greatest British musical I have ever seen, and I have not forgotten Lionel Bart’s Oliver! or Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera. There is a rawness, a warm humour and a sheer humanity here that are worlds removed from the soulless slickness of most musicals.”

Brilliant review from the Reviews Hub:

**Thought I recognised the text of the Overtures review above this post - much of it has been copied from Charles Spencer's 2005 VPT review in The Telegraph **
