The 2020 revival of BETM in Japan has found its Billys - Shirabe Kawaguchi, Taichi Toshida, Kairu Nakamura and Denis Watanabe.

Full dates for the Japanese run have been announced:

Tokyo - 12th July to 17th October, 2020 (with shows 12-17 July being previews)
Osaka - 30th October to 14th November, 2020

“Thank you for your continued patronage. Daiwa House presents musical "Billy Elliot ~ Little Dancer". Since the final audition for the role of Billy last December, we have been carefully preparing for the opening in July. Even after being forced to wait at home due to the declaration of an emergency, the four billies continued their desperate lessons at home. However, due to the extension of the declaration of emergency and the fact that lessons in a large space could not be resumed until June, we are unfortunately forced to postpone the first day of July 12. It will take about three months to reach the first day after the lesson resumes, so all 60 performances currently on sale will be canceled from July 12th to August 30th. We hope that the company will work as one to practice lessons in Akatsuki, where the environment for rehearsals is well-established, and to give everyone an inspiring performance. We look forward to it.

Regarding the opening date after September and the ticket release schedule, we will inform you as soon as the details are decided in consideration of the future situation.”

After a very successful production in 2017, BETM returns to Japan this Friday (11th September). The Japanese revival production runs in Tokyo from 11th Sep to 17th Oct, and then in Osaka from 30th Oct to 14th Nov. Read all about it here:
