It is Sir Matthew's first new work with his New Adventures company since his 2019 adaptation of Romeo and Juliet.

Its cast includes Liam Mower, who began his career sharing the title role in the original Billy Elliot production.

Matthew Bourne's New Adventures is bringing back "Edward Scissorhands" this holiday season with Liam again playing Edward. Here's a clip of Liam practicing his curtain call:

A Billys face on a random book cover

Post by tzwicky »

I was in Colchester recently and spent several hours poking around the town and castle and eventually found my way to the reasonably well-stocked Gift Shoppe at the castle. They had a couple dozen books related to Colchester and the Castle specifically and one of them had cover art which gave me pause with a "where have I seen that face before?" thought. Since I have no idea how to insert an image (have I ever inserted an image into a post here, ever?), go ahead to Amazon and look it up and you'll wonder how our Dancing' Boy got there. The title of the book is "Lament for a Siege Town" by Clare Hawkins.

BTW, during my two weeks in London, I walked into the Victoria Palace Theatre at midday on a very wet weekday. I'd seen "Hamilton" once before in Los Angeles during it's initial months long run at the Pantages Theatre. It was, for me, very ho hum. In my circle of acquaintances, I seemed to be the only old white guy who was not bowled over by the show. It was a mystery to me. Why me?

So I walked into the new and improved VPT and it is indeed a palace since its extensive, years-long renovation. It's now an LW Theatre, LW standing for Baron Andrew Lloyd Webber. The middle row stops at row G, which means a lot of toe crunching if you arrive late for the show. I bought one of the center seats in Row F for 33% off its listed price, day of the show. The place is quite fancy, and still has that new building smell and has expanded in every direction. I got lost at one point and had to exit through a fire escape and pop back in through the front doors.

I loved this show!! I think what happened during my first Hamilton is I slept through a lot of it, and I was sat about 2/3 back in the stalls. This time I was in Row F, center and I could hear natural sound as well as amplified sound, my preferred experience. I saw a show on every evening during my 14 days, and every matinee and an extra matinee on some odd night. So, LOTS of shows. Didn't sleep through any of them. Getting old is a drag.
