Now choose your own seat on ticketmaster website

Post by johnnyc »

I saw something new on the Ticketmaster website today. When you choose the date you want to see BETM Chicago, the next page now features a large seating chart for the Oriental Theatre. Available seats are shown as black circles, seats not available are colored gray. You can mouse over the chart and see the price of each available seat. Restricted view seats even pop up a notation to that effect when the mouse rests on them. Neat! Click on the seat you want and it turns red and brings up a "shopping basket" showing the seat and it's price, as well as the total price if you select more than one seat.

I see that Orchestra row AA is not on the chart. I suppose you still have to phone Ticketmaster and specify that you want that row, if that's the case. And, I suspect that not every available seat in the theatre is listed. (That's also the case on the website for the Victoria Palace in London.) But still, this beats calling Ticketmaster and going back and forth with a representative to determine the seat(s) you want for a particular date. :D

Ticketmaster UK has had this option for a while now as well as the Victoria Palace site. But unfortunatelly the selection is so limited - plus you cannot get the first row here as well - that I prefer calling the box office directly. I really don't get it. Even for dates as far as November they have something like 10-12 seats available...

The VP site is next to useless as far as I am concerned because they don't show what is truly available. I haven't looked at the ticketmaster one yet. But what I tend to do is pull up the chart so I have it in front of me on my screen, and then call to request my seats.

Yep I do exactly the same. That chart is good for something at least.
