Brilliant news. Seems to be picking up again. I guess everyones starting to have money since Christmas te he.
It still amazes me that some shows can sell more seats then they actually have like West Side story. I feel sorry for the people who turn up and have to sit on people's laps. (Only jesting :D)

Awesome! Wicked's still raking them in but I also see and hear A LOT of TV and radio commercials here in NY for Wicked, much more often than I do for BETM. I think it makes sense because they're having no problems selling tickets and it will only increase exponentially after June 7th (the Tony Awards). Wicked has already had this time in its beginning and needs to keep reminding people to see the show--and perhaps has more $$$ saved now to keep advertising so frequently. =)

BETMFTW! (pass it on!)

The traditional "Winter Doldrums" on Broadway have set in this year in a big way, thus the heavily discounted ticket promotions we are seeing.

This week's gross earning report by Broadwayworld.com indicates that BETM Broadway has fallen below the $900K mark for just the seventh time in its history (5 of those times were when the show was still in previews in 2008) and the first time since September of 2010 (which was the only other time the show had tipped below $900K since the previews). It grossed $851,643. For the same period last year, the show grossed $1.2M.

Besides the normal dropoff of activity at this time of year on Broadway, I'm sure last week's storm had an influence on this outcome as well.

Hopefully it'll bounce back in the weeks to come.

As a reference, the top three shows for the week were Wicked ($1.54M), Lion King ($1.33M) and Spiderman ($1.2M).

Nice to see the Broadway show grossed over $1M last week, for just the third time this year:
