This is an excellent review. I assume that since it's in The Edge from Boston, the writer went to Atlanta to preview the show before it comes to Boston.

Re: Atlanta Reviews
This reviewer loved the show (though she thinks the cast is speaking with an Irish dialect -- must be the St. Patrick's Day influence)

Re: Atlanta Reviews
This is from the Broadway.me review.
"Overall, Billy Elliot was quite enjoyable. I can say it is definitely targeted to the gay male demographic as well as women but anyone who enjoys musicals and can at least tolerate the ballet should be in good company here. It is a musical that is long on heart as well as time, clocking in at just under three hours. A few of the musical numbers could have been trimmed without degrading the story."
In no way is this show targeted to the gay male demographic, at least it should not be. Nor should it be targeted to women. It is a universal story that is relevant to all of us. Once again, the people who promote BETM should note this misperception that is preventing many people from giving this play with music a chance.
Also, this reviewer misses the important role of all the musical numbers in the emotional swings and pacing of the show. Nothing can be cut without a loss in the power of Billy Elliot The Musical.

I did try to respond, but there seems to be no area for comments. I have subscribed and I am waiting for approval. Maybe then I will be able to comment.
