Yes, I agree, Jake is absolutely awesome as Michael.
And, the disrespect continues; as of this evening, Thursday, November 18, 2010 the BETM Broadway official site still has Gabriel Rush listed as Michael, not Jake. Come on, Billy Elliot web persons, it's not difficult to change a name on a page; it might take at most two minutes to change, test and upload. (Been there, done that, enough times over the past 10 years or so to know there's no legitimate excuse for this updating to take so long; it's neither rocket science nor time consuming.)

Jake posted this tonight on his public Facebook page. It sounds like he is leaving, which helps explain why Gabe's name is on the website again.

Jake confirmed on the same page that his last show will be on Sunday, January 30th. He does not say if it is the matinee or evening show though.
He is a terrific Michael and I'm sure he will perform in many other things in the future.

It was several weeks ago I first saw Jake's public Facebook page message that he was leaving BETM at the end of this month. When Gabe's name appeared on the BETM Broadway cast page, I immediately thought that it might be related to Jake's impending departure.

A host of theatre artists will join forces Feb. 7 for Broadway Sings, a benefit for the children of PS 166, The Richard Rodgers School. Among them, will be Jake Schwencke and Neil McCaffrey.
