It's been quite a while since anyone contributed to this thread, so I thought I would bring it back to life. I have just finished the first two books in the Lisbeth Salanger trilogy by Swedish author Stieg Larsson, The Girl With the Dragon Tatoo, and The Girl Who Played With Fire. If you like crime thrillers, these are really good books. Lisbeth, a 4'11" computer and math genius, defines the words "survivor" and "kick-a**." The other main character is her friend and sometimes lover, Mikael Blomkvist, an investigative journalist. I'm not going to even begin to tell you about the plot, but trust me, there are murders aplenty and lots of twists and turns along the way. I am heading to the bookstore today to search for the third book in the series, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest.

Ah, Heathcliff! The quintessential dark romantic hero (or is it villain?)

Just finished re-reading Pratchett's Witches Abroad for the nth time. Bit in love with his characters, to tell you the truth. Granny Weatherwax, Lord Vetinari, Casanunda, Moist Von Lipwig, to name a few. And what Discworld novel is complete without an appearance from their (surprisingly friendly) Grim Reaper? Brilliant stuff. I've actually got an excuse to go out and buy the ones I don't own now, as I'm doing my dissertation on his novels, next year.
