According to Allie Trimm's twitter, Jake's last night in Bye Bye Birdie was tonight because he will be joining the cast of Billy Elliot as Michael.

Interesting. I guess this will be the first time there's been 3 full-time Michaels in the Broadway show - unless he's going to be an understudy Michael like Keean Johnson was originally.

I saw her reference to Jake leaving and joining Billy Elliot, but I have not seen a specific reference to which Billy cast he is joining. Also, I don't believe she said what role he would be playing. One would think probably Michael, but he could be a tall boy. Or he might be a future Billy. Who knows?

In response to the original post in this thread, I was going to say that no where have I found a reference to which role Jake would play -- nor if it would be on Broadway or in Chicago. Though it wouldn't make sense that he'd leave on Broadway show for another so soon after the opening of BBB unless it were a bigger part for him.

There's also a rumor making the rounds that Keean Johnson is moving to the Chicago BE cast, which might dovetail with this move of Jake's.

From what I understand Keean is opening the show in Chicago as Michael and Jake is replacing him on Broadway. Jake's resume has been updated.

Yes, you did, but based on what I could see, it was not posted on Allie's twitter that Jake was to be Michael.

In any case, I expect he will be a great addition to the cast.
