The Spins in Electricity
The Spins in Electricity
I was just wondering (by the way I'm new to the forum), do all the billys do the spins at the end of electricity? I'm not only referring to the US version, but in the UK and Oz version as well. I saw the show for my birthday present with Trent and it was fantastic! I know he does the spins at the end, but I recently saw a vid of Matthew Koon doing a street version of electricity and the spins were completely left out. Is this true for all the Billys that do the street version?

Re: The Spins in Electricity
Hi Evie. Welcome to the forum. Hope you enjoy it here. Glad you enjoyed the show with Trent as Billy.
To answer your question: Not all the Billys do the fouette turns at the end of Electricity. It depends on their choreography. "Ballet Billys" do them, but "street Billys" usually do something else. Many of them do a flip off a wall instead as the end to their Electricity routines.
So far, the Broadway show has had only ballet Billys, and all of them have done the spins, but we may eventually see a street Billy .

Never worry about being new and asking a question. New or old members ask questions on here all the time, and other member's are always happy to assist (as you can see above). That is what is so nice about this forum, always friendlyEvie wrote:I was just wondering (by the way I'm new to the forum), do all the billys do the spins at the end of electricity ?
Take life with a pinch of salt.....a slice of lime, and a shot of tequila.
Re: The Spins in Electricity
I've noticed lately that some of the Billy's have put a rise (where they lift both their arms...in to fifty?!!!???!) in. I remember Tanner doing it and i believe Kiril does (just from watching videos) is this a recent change and how many other Billy's do this?

Re: The Spins in Electricity
Well putting both arms up while turning is harder and more classical ballet so that explains why Matthew's steer version electrcity had no turns. Also, David has always been good at turns so he was the first start putting both of his arms up and then Kiril.

Re: The Spins in Electricity
Kiril always did them. He did the Russian style with one arm up and then both arms up from the very first preview, which I attended.

Re: The Spins in Electricity
Thanks for opening this thread as it enables me to ask a question and I di not know what the fouette was called.ERinVA wrote: To answer your question: Not all the Billys do the fouette turns at the end of Electricity. It depends on their choreography. " .
In another thread we discussed whether Billy took the lead vocally in Electricity with the conductor following with a chord.
The question I did not ask was do all Billys that do the fouette at the end of Electricity do the same number of turns , do they prarrange the number or have licence to do as many as they like How does the conductor know when he will finish, if so.
I mention this as some Billys , like Australias Rhys seem to perform many more than other Billys.

Re: The Spins in Electricity
It appears that the choreography of Electricity allows for around 18 fouettes before the final spin.
Here's Liam Mower doing his Electricity on Children in Need. It looks like the full choreography allows for only around 18 rotations.

Here's Leon Cooke's Electricty. Also 18 rotations, but in the opposite direction. Leon is also left-handed.

But here is an 11 year-old Liam Mower doing an amazing 36 rotations during the Royal Variety Performance in Dec. 2004, the first time the 3 original Billys were introduced to the public.

Here is Kiril on The View. He only does around 12, but I think the ending music is several measures shorter than the version used by Liam and Leon.

There are also other bootleg videos on youtube, quite a few from the show, including one of Kiril that I found where I counted 17 rotations.
