Thanks for the leg work, Ellen.

And Kiril rolls on to another triumph. What a multi-talented young man!

This was the first event Kiril and Jenna entered together as partners. And not only did they win, they were ranked first place by every judge in every one of the 5 dances. Looks as though Kiril made an excellent choice when selecting his new partner. Plus, the category they competed in was for anyone of any age over 18 -- dancers could be in their 20s, 30s, etc, with much experience and maturity -- and Kiril is still a couple of weeks shy of his 19th birthday!
Looks like another good season ahead for him in dancesport.

If, by "start an obsession," you mean that Kiril is just now starting with dancesport competition, I must clarify that, long before Billy Elliot came into his life, he and another partner were the reigning national Junior Latin dance champions for 3 (or 4?) years. Gives a whole new perspective on the Born to Boogie scene when Billy briefly does a couples dance with Mrs. WIlkinson!

Kiril reached this apex in ballroom during the same years he achieved first place in the national ballet Youth American Grand Prix age category in which he competed each year -- including being awarded the Grand Prix (sort of comparable to "Best in Show" of the dog world) when he was 13. You can see why the BETM folks snapped him up.

While the BETM producers appear to have taken down all the official Billy Elliot videos from YouTube, you can still see many of the videos shot by doting family members of these ballroom and ballet competitions.

I think he means that his own obsession with the show got started because Kiril was his first Billy.
