Fear not, the show is so much better than the movie. The movie is like the show, but with everything that makes it worth watching removed.
For me, one of the best parts of the show is the music, which exists like another layer on top of the play. They have captured the British folk music tradition beautifully.
The only change I would make to the show is that they should make it clear that in the first few scenes, Billy and Albert are both 13. For most of the show they are 16 and the actors look that age. Their actions make more sense if you think about them as 13 year-olds.
