New BBC show arrived here in Australia- Mrs Brown's Boys

There have been a number of TV shows reviewed over the last few years, mainly from the UK. Just recently I went overseas but on the trailer, recorded a short set of shows that is a riot.

Mrs Brown's Boys

The use of the F word would make this too bawdy for the US, but it is televised in front of a live audience, and is hilarious.

I would like to hear more about the star, I assume a drag queen.

Thanks

Andrew, Brendan O'Carroll would not be best pleased to hear himself described as a drag queen but he would laugh about it.

Mrs Brown is just one side of his many talents. A google search will reveal all.

Brendan is Dublin born and bred and has been entertaining audiences here and all around the world since the 90's. "Mrs. Brown" herself has been around for many years and is an entirely Irish thing which the BBC happened to have bought.

Bawdiness has always been a part of his act so opinions are divided.

Here's a start for you :D

I used the term drag queen as it is so usual for UK comedies to feature one or more.

That was a great read and the shows are fantastic,

Maybe a US network would have the gumption to buy and show these to the open minded.

A NETWORK? Noooo way. Cable, might remake it(god help us, the naughty comedie remakes have ALL been horrible ie Coupling.Shameless is an exception but still not as good as the original which CAN be seen here in part.)

Mrs Brown's Boys is available on BBC's IPlayer.

How you access it is entirely up to you!

Regarding 'language', I find a a Canadian TV series hilarious - just six episodes that are very witty and clever, a sort of 'Sopranos' in an elementary school playground - 'The Yard'. It is available on Hulu in either a 'bleeped' version or a full-on, no frills version. And the actors are under 12 years of age - imagine that appearing on a US network!

The Yard has a Billy connection: Julian Elia plays one of the bullies. He filmed it in summer 2010. (Reference: Elite Danceworx News page.)

A similar show featuring kids in adult roles - possibly familiar to our British Forum members - is a TV show called "School of Comedy." Hard to imagine this one being allowed on American TV either ! One of the actors was Will Poulter who appeared in the recent film "We're the Millers." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqr2pub_GM4
