Drew's older brother Grant tweeted the following:

"Tomorrow is my brother's first time performing as Billy Elliot. I can't contain my excitement"

Just returned from the theater. Trust me... Drew is going to be great!!! There were some major timing issues with orchestra tonight, but this kid and the cast made it work. Drew is the whole package. Dancing, singing and acting. Hold on BETM fans... Drew is heading your way and he's going to knock your dancing shoes off!

Was at this afternoon's debut and Drew was really good. His dancing and singing were excellent and his Electricity was outstanding. His timing was a little off in the beginning, but he quickly got into the groove.. Really liked his accent and his energy. It was also nice to see a Billy that really looks young. He seemed very excited and his parents were as well. They were recognized before the show. My only complaint is that his close cropped hair was a little jarring and you could see his entire mic because of it. One funny note, as Michael was leaving the stage in his tutu, he says " Merry Christmas Micheal"

The Austin audience was very receptive. Standing during the applause for Electricity. And many comments about how great it was. Loads of kids that really seemed to enjoy it.

Great Job Drew!

I noticed that with Noah Parets as well, as he had just had a new/shorter hair cut when I saw him last weekend. Never really thought about it, but I guess I can't remember ever seeing a Billy with close-cropped hair before, and now there's two of them on the tour. Besides the entire mic showing, I would think it would be easier for it to come loose and start flopping around since there's no hair to clip it onto to hold it in place. Might be reason enough for them to require the Billys and Michaels to keep their hair a bit on the shaggy side.

I assure you that, unless the actors are wearing a wig in the show, no haircut takes place without the approval of the company manager. In fact, I believe they hire someone to cut the hair.
