Publicity for West Palm Beach

Post by CJ-Rochester »

The tour will perform at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in West Palm Beach March 5-10. Here is a photo on the Kravis Center's public Facebook page of the pirouette lesson scene featuring home town star Mitchell Tobin.

Those attending opening night of the West Palm Beach tour stop are in for a special treat.

Nice! I'm so happy to see Tommy is part of the promotions for the show in that area! He's done a lot of public performances and more coming up in that area, so check in with his mom for more details or look around online.

The Kravis Center is offering students and educators front balcony seats for the discounted price of $25 and mezzanine seats for $29.50 on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday evening during BETM's week there.

It was also announced that a free Intermediate Level Dance Masterclass for ages 12 and up would be held in conjunction with the Tour's stop there. Learn choreography from the National Broadway Tour, led by cast members Marisa Kennedy and Patrick Lavallee.

I loved this:
He first saw Billy Elliot in the summer of 2011, when his parents took him to New York. When they assured him that he could play Billy, he decided to try out for the part.
To think of a future Billy there in the audience with any of us, seeing the show for the first time and wanting to Be Billy.

Last August I found myself sitting next to a mother with two incredibly well dressed, alert and well behaved boys. They were in rapture watching the show. During the interval I spoke with the mom - a single mom from Dorchester, trying to bring up her sons (age 9 and 8, I would guess) to be good kids and not like those around them. And, they went to a dance school (street and tap). We got to chatting and I suggested she (or her sons' dance instructor) get in touch with Nora Brennan. You never know when a chance discussion can open up opportunities.

His hometown newspaper, The Palm Beach Post, has this great story about Mitchell Tobin in advance of the show stopping in West Palm Beach later this week:
