A group of individuals who were responsible for the success of the 2000 movie that started it all, will reprise their roles as it's been announced that Jamie Bell will star in and Stephen Daldry will direct a sequel to the movie Billy Elliot. The screenplay has been written by Lee Hall. Due for release in 2016.

I think so too. Imdb shows nothing about it being in development.
I ask myself why the people behind such an inspiring story would then turn Billy's life around into a downward spiral, and I can only come to the conclusion that this is a bad joke.
