.. thus:

"Billy Elliot the Musical has been dazzling London’s theatregoers at the Victoria Palace Theatre since the year Connie was born."

(^_^)
Not quite sure I understand this post. According to the programme blurb Connie is already ten years old, therefore, that probably means she was born in 2004.

Hey! No "poetic license" at a forum about a poetical entity???

Connie is ten. The show is (very nearly) ten...

Sorry, if others share the confusion.

I'm surprised Connie didn't take a stage name, not too long ago another Connie Fisher was gracing the world of musical theatre, but she sadly had to quit singing.

She was asked, but didn't want to, it's her name and she wanted to use it.

It's her name and she wanted to use it.
Now don't get me wrong... I'm not saying Connie is a "better" Debbie in any way... but she strikes me as quite a "different" Debbie from the norm of the past. Whereas many Debbies come across as long suffering... "I don't have much choice, do I?" (if not without the occasional "Grr" or flounce... there have been some excellent flouncers over the years)... Connie's Debbie seems to have a little more backbone, a little more inclination to independent thought. And if the girl behind the character is a bit like that, I suspect that if she wanted to use her name, not some stage name, then maybe that was that? (^_^)
