Ticket for a West End show? That'll be £200
Ticket for a West End show? That'll be £200
This is an interesting article from the Daily Telegraph, about the skyrocketing tickets prices of West End shows (but the cheap seats are cheaper!).

Re: Ticket for a West End show? That'll be £200
It looks like the West End has caught on to Broadway's game of premium seating and dynamic pricing. Call it greed or capitalism or whatever. No matter how much you charge, there is always someone willing to pay it. On the flip side, I've found there are always deals and discounts to be had.

More efficient pricing means sometimes they cost more and sometimes less. Overall, we can expect shows to stay open longer, which means more time approaching the end of the run with lower pricing. Show will also be more profitable, which means more shows and more potential for risk-taking. Overall, this will likely be good for theatre.

I really want to see the book of Mormon, but there's no way I would pay that amount for a ticket. I tried their ticket lotto, but I was not one of the few lucky ones, so I ended up seeing Billy Elliot on that day as wellkport wrote:This is an interesting article from the Daily Telegraph, about the skyrocketing tickets prices of West End shows (but the cheap seats are cheaper!).

You should buy a "cheap" ticket (~37 pounds) for Book of Mormon. The theatre is small and the show really is all about the humour, so it should be very enjoyable from every seat. I had a 77-pounds-seat and wished I would have been wiser...Darth_Revan wrote:I really want to see the book of Mormon, but there's no way I would pay that amount for a ticket. You can see fine from the back row of the stalls (as long as you don't have a 2 ft high hair-do in front of you ).

Or if you're patient enough, wait until it gets cheaper. This one will be playing for a long time, so you don't need to worry about missing it!

Here is a similar article, again by the Daily Telegraph.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/celebri ... rices.htmlStevenson also criticised booking fees by ticket providers, saying: "Why should you have to pay to buy a product? You don't go into a shop and pay the shop for the privilege of buying a product from them.
"Booking fees are completely scandalous."
Re: Ticket for a West End show? That'll be £200
I really don't get online booking fees. It surely costs them less to sell a ticket online than it does to pay someone to staff a box office or call center. So, why is there often an extra fee to book online?
