Billy Elliot star from Birmingham who beat cancer as newborn becomes acrobatic world champion
“Birmingham dance school Sparkles brought home three medals in total after practising on Zoom. A group of young dancers from Birmingham went head to head with elites from across the world - and brought home three medals. Sparkles School of Dance, based in Hodge Hill, showcased their skills at the Telford International Centre as they represented England at the Dance World Cup.
They won three medals and among them was Nat Sweeney, who placed first in the world and is now an Acrobatic World Champion. The Birmingham dancers, aged seven to 18, made it to the prestigious event despite many of them having classes through Zoom. The Dance World Cup features over 7,200 of the world's best dancers from over forty countries. And Nat, who is no stranger to the headlines after beating cancer as a newborn to performing at the West End, placed first in the world, meaning he is now an Acrobatic World Champion. Sparkles dancers flew the flag for Birmingham and won in all three sections they entered. All three routines they performed won medals, placing them second in the world and bringing home two golds, the school told BirminghamLive………………………..”
