Re: Billy Elliot in Tel Aviv, Israel?

If they are looking for an Israeli cast, then I assume it will be in Hebrew. Translating the musical sounds like a formidable project for such a small country....

Finally some information. Thanks porschesrule for the finding. I was afraid the whole thing would not 'materialize' as there was no hint other than the audition photo of Timoti Sannikov quite a while ago. Apparently he didn't get in  EDIT: Yes he got in and plays the role of Michael along with Sahar and Amit
As the front page says June-July 2016 (Apparently Opening Night is 31 May) it won't be running long.

Tickets go on sale Tuesday 15 march, 9:00 I guess local time. http://www.2207.co.il

Could be interesting. If I find the time I'll go and see it.
Btw. there's already a thread under "Billy around the world - where will Billy play next...

Just saw the trailer. It seems they were much inspired by the norwegian production's trailer :D .

One of the Billys, Arnon Herring is on Instagram. You find him by his name. I wonder if one of the videos is actually the Dreamballet scene, yet to a different music.

The director Eldar Groisman is on fb, also with his name.

Found a longer version of the trailer (the link is on Arnon's instagram site) youtu.be/5YBW9swFz7k
https://youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu ... YBW9swFz7k

It seems to be difficult to to find the location using here or google maps with the given adress since it isn't a proper street adress. When I tried then typing in the hebrew letters it seemed to work:
It is located close to the costline north of Tel Aviv and south-west of Herzlia and west of Ramat HaScharon. Just east of Highway 2 north of interchange with highway 5.
Only street name close to it : Aluf Me'ir Amit Blvd.
You may type the following hebrew letters in Google maps(Forum doesn't tolerate Hebrew letters): Samech/Jod/Nun/Mem/He/ /Samech/Jod/Tet/Jod/ /Gimel/Lamed/Jod/Lamed/Waw/Taw
SINeMHa SITI GLILOT (Glilot - I think it's a proper name as the interchange is named that way : Glilot Ma'arav)

If you search just 'cinema city' you'll find one south of Tel Aviv 'Rishon Letzion' but that's not the one! The announcer in the video says it's in Ramat HaScharon.

You can see the letters on billyelliot.co.il : Under the (latin) BILLY ELLIOT logo is another red line saying "2016 July - June" the line below : leftmost word is "Glilot" then "City" "Cinema" , "Hall" "City". Of course the words are meant be read from right. Apparently City Hall Cinema is only transliterated from english to hebrew.

Hey Elad - I was wondering if you hear of any student rush or cheaply priced tickets, would you please send the info my way? I have a friend in Tel Aviv and I would love to persuade her to see the show. Thank you!

Oh,oh, these aren't many shows. :?
Am I missing something? Are there sold-out shows not displayed anymore? What do they have two Billys for? Opening night is not listed. 2 shows on 31 may/ 1 june and then just 4 more shows over 2 month?

Anyway, tickets are from ILS 174 to ILS 304 / 32 to 55 £.
The only 'Tarif' option to choose is "normal" maybe they add more options later or maybe they won't. There are still plenty ILS 174 seats in the gallery front row.' Plenty' in comparison to only 5 shows on sale.

Just an observation:
Saturday 2 July 20:30 The show starts 2 1/2 h after Sabbath.
The show on Friday 15 July 14:30 will end (given 3 hours) half an an hour before Sabbath. I was told there is no bus service in Israel except for Haifa. Better check, if your hotel is not in walking distance!

From what I've seen there was a 2 day early sale to frequent flyer members of the Israeli National Flight Company (EL-AL).
I see only 5 shows scheduled. 2 shows in June and 3 in July. Prices range from 174 NIS to 314 NIS (44 - 78 $).
Today they started advertising on TV - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5YBW9swFz7k
The show will be played in a new theatre called "City Hall" - a part of a large complex of movie theaters and restaurants located near the northern border of Tel Aviv.
The actors that play Dad (Avi Koshnir) and Tony (Oshri Cohen) are famous actors in Israel (TV/movies/Theatre). Avi Koshnir also hosted the Israeli version of "Dancing with the stars". He promised to dance at the end of the show.
