Civic Theatre decided to open its 2018-19 season in its newly renovated 19th Street Theatre with the Tony-winning “Billy Elliot: The Musical.” But that didn’t mean it had someone ready to play the boy who wanted to be a dancer.

Now, Civic has found its Billy Elliot — Parker James Fullmore.

I am considering attending the final shows on October 27 & 28.

Thought I could resist the transcontinental booking, but it's been so long since my last BillyFix.

The extra drama of final shows is a draw as well. I might even track down some fall foliage while I'm there.

Anyone else gonna be in Allentown?

I’m never going to play Billy again,” Ann-Marie says Parker told her. “I’m getting too old. But I feel I’m not done telling Billy’s story.”

So Ann-Marie researched theaters that were planning productions of “Billy Elliot” and found Civic. She sent Sanders a video of Parker dancing. Sanders found his star.

Now Parker, his mother and his 10-year-old sister Payton are living in Allentown temporarily while Parker rehearses for the show, which opens Friday. Payton also appears in the show as one of the ballet girls.

It seems I blinked, and over three years have now passed since the last time I saw the musical performed live. I must admit, this article posted above combined with the show's location and the theatre's prices have me very tempted to make a trip this weekend.

Parker posted these photos from the Allentown show on his Instagram. You can see what a quality production this was.

He also announced he will be doing the production in Florida next spring (Garden Theatre, Winter Garden, FL - April 26-May 26, 2019).

I’m said it’s over and I will miss all the friends I’ve made here in Allentown!
