Is it very often that actors playing Michael are asked to wear non-correcting eye glasses as was the case for the Arts Club's production? The Billy understudy was also Michael, and the Michael u/s was Posh Boy. So thick black glasses were worn by the Michael of the day (or rather of the show).

One original London Michael, Brad Kavanah, wore glasses. In his case, they were genuine glasses with corrective lenses.

I'm pretty sure Jake Pratt needed genuine glasses. We have to bear in mind it's only in the last few years that contacts have become routine for children. Anyhow they can give them those awful National Health Service style kids glasses from the 80's which were funny in themselves.
