Wonder why ? Was it scheduled this way or was there some problem that caused them to cancel the performances that would normally occur on Tuesday and Wednesday ?

It was scheduled that way from the beginning, I would imagine to allow for the tweaking of things after the first week of previews.

If memory serves, I believe they did the same thing in NY, took a couple of days after the first week of previews for getting back ahead of the curve...

It is part 2 and you can see part of his rehearsing and actual performance!
He is so adorable and mega talented!
The reporter was following him around Chicago with a camera man for a couple of days in April. They were there around the opening night.
