Hi, I am Samuel, I live in Almere and I live there with my big brother, my little brother and little sister and of course my father and mother. I got the idea of auditioning for the Billy Elliot sCool because my mother read an article in a journal and thought: "that must be something nice for Samuel" and I thought it was nice as well. And then I did the audition. Before my audition, I couldn't dance, so I learned everything at the Billy Elliot sCool. When I heard I would be playing Billy I was at home, I heard it from a telephone call.
I ran upstairs with the telephone and then I heard it and I was so happy. I started jumping on my bed and I was screaming and I couldn't find words. The coolest thing about being Billy is that you can sort of create your own Billy, because every actor who plays Billy can choose how to do his Billy a little bit. One is better at acting, the other is better at dancing, the other is better at singing and in that way you create your own Billy. I think it's cool that I'll be on stage with Pia Douwes soon, but I aslo think it's cool to be on stage with all those other actors because they're cool, and good and funny. I have had other hobbies: I played the guitar, I did some sort of martial arts but now I found my real hobby and that's dancing.

I am Faas, I am 10 years old and I live in Amsterdam with my father, mother and three brothers. I auditioned because I went to a musical school for a month and someone said to me: "you're a perfect boy to play Billy Elliot" and I thought about it and looked it up and then it seemed nice to audition for it. I heard it when I was home, I was sitting on the couch. And suddenly the telephone rang. I suspected that it was the result (of the audition), but I wasn't sure. Father said that I was Billy and I was really happy and jumped into my father's arm. I started running around. The coolest thing about being Billy is the experience, I think it's amazing. I think everything is super nice. Before Billy I had other hobbies. I played the violin, I started when I was five, and it was fun. But at a certain time I didn't have time for it anymore because I had to train a lot for Billy. I also played football, but I didn't like it anymore and then I started doing musical.

I am Sammy, I'm eleven years old and I live in Arnhem with my brother, Julian, my little sister Ella and my other sister Laetitia, and my parents. I got the idea for doing the audition when my father saw a poster at my dance school and he though: "oh, he could audition for it". I really like dancing. I started dancing at four, now, I started with "Michael Jackson dancing". When I was six I did actual dancing and then I auditioned for Billy. I heard that I was to become Billy when I was at home with my family and then I heard the telephone and then I was Billy. I like everything about Billy. I like doing Kippenvel (Electricty). And I like being on stage with Pia Douwes because she's very good at musical thingies and she's very nice.

Hello, I am Wisse, I live in Gouda and I am a Billy. I live with my parents, with my brother and a rabbit. I have been dancing since I was three. I'm also in the National Ballet Academy , I'm in the second year and there I do classic ballet, world dance and contemporary. The coolest thing about dancing is that you're free and you're not. And you can really go for it, and if you do it, you'll succeed most of the time. Two years ago I saw Billy Elliot the Musical in England in London, and there I said to my father: "if this ever comes to The Netherlandsn I want to do this also". And that's how I got here. The coolest thing about playing Billy is, I think, the flying, Angry Dance and the finale. Angry Dance because it's really angry, there's a lot of emotion in it. The finale because everyone is doing the same dance and I like that as well. It's very happy. My dream is to get into the National Ballet as first soloist and then maybe even farther, like, maybe in England, that seems very cool as well.

I am Nick and I live in Kunderberg (??) with my father, my mother and my sister. I learned dancing from my sister. I have been dancing for one year and a half. My sister really loves dancing as well, she dances all day long, she does street dance and contemporary. And that's cool, because she also does it as home and then she teaches me new things. I dance a lot at home, I like giving shows at home, for example, when I do a tap routine and then they're looking like ... and that's really funny to look at. I was really nervous because the English really look very strict and then it feels like you're not doing it well and that's very confusing and then you get more nervous. When I heard that I was Billy, before I was tired, but after I was hyper the entire week. I went upstairs and started jumping on my bed. I screamed and I nearly had to cry.. my sister cried. I saw two try-outs of the musical already, it's super cool. I think it's cool that I'm the youngest Billy ever but I also think it's cool to perform in front of such a huge audience and to show what you can do.

I am Laurian, I am from Gouda and I do gymnastics. I live in Gouda with my father, my mother and sister. I also have to pets and they're really cute. They're chinchillas and they are called Jari and Lana and sometimes they sit on your head or your should and that's really cute. I do gymnastics and my trainer really likes Billy Elliot the Musical and she though it was something for me. So, I auditioned together with a friend of mine. I was really nervous at the first audition but then I heard: "you're through into the next round" and then I thought "this is going well". And then I went through all those rounds and now I'm here. I like acrobatics the most because I did gymnastics so I already was able to do that. Tap and ballet I love as well, and then I'm tapping at home and making pirouettes o during the lesson and then they say: "stop tapping!" My biggest dream already came true a little bit because I'm Billy now and that was my dream at first, but later I want to do something with acting. It feels really cool. When I heard it, I started doing cartwheels and "yoohoo, yes", and it was a super cool moment. I'll never forget it.

It's interesting that Tevin is so prominent in a lot of these. I wonder if he is training to bump from Michael to Billy or just utilizes this fantastic training to further himself as a dancer. Either way, good on him.

I spot several other future Michaels (Florijn and Rogier) in these videos as well, so I suspect all boys went through Billy-training and in the end they just decided who would fit which role best.
