Glad I am arriving on the 8th.
It's going to affect those of us arriving on the morning of the 8th, too. The strike does not start until 21:00 on Monday the 5th.

"21:00 hours on Monday 5th of May 2014 until 20:59 hours on Thursday 8th of May 2014."

I suppose we can hope they resolve their differences by then.

Another option is to take the National Express bus from Heathrow to Victoria Coach Station. They run about every 15 minutes for about 6 GBP.

A head's-up:
Rail workers on the Heathrow Express service will be staging a 48-hour strike, the Rail, Maritime and Transport Union (RMT) has announced.

Members of the union plan to walk out on 03:00 BST on 29 April.

This does not affect National Express Coach services.

The London Tube website discusses the impact of the tube strike starting tomorrow and tells which tube lines will be open with limited service. Based on this info, travelers arriving into Heathrow T1, 2 and 3 can still take the Piccadilly line to Acton Town, then connect to the District line to Victoria but it only runs every 20 minutes.

Though this discusses this weeks strike and not the one planned for when many forum members are arriving, it gives you an idea of the impact.

An alternative means of travel, which avoids the tube strike, is via the National Express Coach service from the Central Coach Station at Heathrow (linked with T1/T3) with stops at T4 and (I think) T5 as well. This goes straight from the airport terminals to Victoria Coach Station which is across the street from Victoria Rail Station (and a 7 minute walk to the VPT). Tickets can be bought at the airport in the coach stations when you arrive. The advantage is that you will not need to lug your bags around the underground until you reach Victoria (you load them on a trolley at baggage, wheel it to the coach, and the driver loads them underneath, and you get them back at Victoria); you have a comfortable seat; and there is a decent coffee shop in the terminal while you wait.

These depart frequently (several times an hour), take 45 minutes from the CCS, and cost 10 quid one way. You can pay with any ATM card.

If anyone needs more info, I will be happy to help.

Thanks Bill and Rich for the tip about the National Express bus from Heathrow to Victoria Coach Station. Based on Google Maps, Victoria Coach Station is a shorter walk to my hotel anyway, so this is a win-win (at least for me).

The thread is locked, but the dinner on May 10 is in the travelling production thread?

I'm not sure what you mean by "traveling production thread." Are you asking where the thread for the dinner is? If so, it is in Special Show Nights for the London section, and yes it's locked now because the number for the reservation has been reached. However, Billy Whiz has asked people to PM him if they would like him to see if they can be added to the list.
