Andrew Lloyd Webber takes his first look at the set of the Phantom sequel Love Never Dies which opens in Melbourne tonight, 20 May. Be interested to hear how it differs from the UK

I went to see this again on Friday night.

I have to say I enjoyed it much more this time as I had a superb view from the front of the dress circle. The projections and visuals look quite impressive from this location.

I also felt that David Thaxton was excellent as Raoul and so the duet 'Devil Takes The Hindmost' was amazingly powerful with Ramin Karimloo's Phantom.

Celia Graham as Christine, Helen Flaherty as Meg and Daniel Dowling as Gustave were all very good too.

I too went to see the show again last Wednesday evening and sat in row J of the stalls. All the first choice adult cast were performing with Jack Costello as Gustave and Connor Fitzgerald in the other child role. You have an excellent view of all the projections and trickery from row J, with plenty of legroom to boot!

I was wondering how this revamped version differs from the production that has just opened in Melbourne. I think quite a few changes have been made which may eventually find their way to the Adelphi!

WhatsOnstage.com is reporting that Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical LOVE NEVER DIES will close on 27 August 2011. The production had recently announced that bookings were open through January 2012.

I must say that I was quite surprised when I heard this news especially as Andrew LLoyd Webber had said that he wanted to bring the Australian version to London in due course. I presume the show has been running at a loss which I can well imagine looking at the number of empty seats in both the stalls and Dress Circle when I've seen it. A great shame as it's one of my favourite shows in London at the moment.

I saw this production last night for a second time. We had excellent seats in row C of the Stalls for a bargain price of less than £38.00 each. I have to say though I can see why it is being closed early as although the cast put 100 % effort into it, the storyline is weak and the first half is tedious and long-winded. Comparisons with the brilliance of Billy Elliot or Les Miserables leave absolutely no contest.

Ex-Gustave, Harry Child, will be appearing in the uplifting Musical, 'Korczak' at the Rose Theatre, Kingston Upon Thames from 31 August - 3 September 2011. I've been told he has quite a big part in the show

Last night I went to see the very final performance of Love Never Dies. The Adelphi theatre was packed and at about 7:25 Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber himself was escorted to his seat in the stalls just a few rows behind me, and the audience rose as one to cheer and applaud him. He seemed visibly moved and thanked the crowd for their appreciation.

It was an amazing show, with a number of spontaneous standing ovations and outbursts of applause. Perhaps too many as some of the quieter moments were drowned out!

At the end of the show Sir Andrew came on stage to make a brief farewell speech, thanking everyone involved in the show, and hoping that Love will not Die forever. Ramin Karimloo made as if he was going to throw his Phantom's mask into the audience but he was just teasing us! I think that LND is a show that you either love or hate and I'm most definitely in the former category. Sorry, Westletonion, I'm not with you on this one, but as you know I do enjoy Billy and Les Mis too!

It was good to meet up again with jon01, the first time I think since Oliver!'s closing night!

Well thanks very much Dancer for your report of the final night which sounds as though it was a real humdinger of an occasion.
