According to imdb.com, the role of Simon (the posh boy) in the movie was played by Matthew James Thomas. In my Spiderman playbill from this summer, it said he would be playing Spider-Man at "selected performances." I take it that the performance you saw was one of those performances. Sorry it didn't work out for you to see the regular Spider-Man (Reeve Carney) who was excellent in the show I saw.angelenroute wrote:The guy who played Spider-Man also played the part of Posh Boy (Simon) in the original 2000 movie

A friend seeing the show told us she felt Matthew was even better than Reeve. Either way, I didn't feel cheated. Matthew was a beautiful singer and very talented all around.Todd wrote:According to imdb.com, the role of Simon (the posh boy) in the movie was played by Matthew James Thomas. Though this article does not mention BETM, it does discuss 'superfans' which I'm sure we can all relate to.

Spiderman Sets Broadway Records
While still in previews, "Spiderman" appeared to be in shambles, maybe not even making it to Opening Night. Co-writer and original director Julie Taymor departed the show during those early days of turmoil.
But the show has persevered and obviously caught on with Broadway audiences. The latest evidence of this was last week when the show took in $2,941,790.20, shattering the record for the highest single-week gross of any show in Broadway history previously held by Wicked at $2,228,235. It also enjoyed the highest single-week attendance by any show in Broadway history, playing to 17,375 audience members (100.02 percent capacity of The Foxwoods Theatre).

Congratulations to Jake Epstein, former BETM Toronto Tony, who makes his Broadway debut today as the newest Peter Parker/Spider-Man alternate. "Break a leg" Jake!
