I think that calling this performance a "musical" is interesting. I watched videos of the last one (in which both Kiril and Trent performed), and I have to say that even though it had music and a story of sorts, it certainly wasn't a musical in the sense of what we are used to from Broadway, and I don't think NY audiences will be seeing either production on the Great White Way in any foreseeable future. The lyrics seem to be from poems composed by the Master, but I have no idea if she composes the music as well. I suspect not, but as I say, I really don't know.

I also think that if the participants have to personally hype their awards on youtube in order to sell this production, that probably says something about it as well. It may be an L.A. kind of thing or something.

I too found it odd hearing him say on the video: "I'm Kiril Kulish, a Tony award winning actor from 'Billy Elliot'". It doesn't seem the kind of thing most stars would say.

Kiril was actually offered to be the main male character of the entire production, but he turned it down in favor of leading the Russian-themed section of the program in which he could sing and dance. Plus, it was the big show-stopper at the end of the first act.

My understanding is that Supreme Master (or what???) writes "poems" that are then set to music. Not sure if she's the composer or if there's collaborators.

Good choice to do the singing and dancing!

Also -- There were 6300 people in the audience!
That's 3 Billy Elliot shows at once!

I googled the Supreme Master after the first show. She's a (controversial) guru of an eastern religion with a large mostly foreign(but notable Hollywood figures) adherents. My personal opinion is this is just an ego piece. But if it paid well I doubt any of the performers complained.:)

It's so good to see Kiril is still on the "move",and making wise choices. He was the first Billy I saw. What a great way to start an obsession.

I did some digging to discover that this competition was the USA Dance Southwest Regional, held Feb. 1-2. Kiril's new partner is Jenna Johnson, and the couple won first place in the Amateur-Qualifier Adult Latin category:
