"13" coming to London?

Post by ERinVA »

Jason Robert Brown has just tweeted this:
Did I just have a conversation about directing a big production of "13" in London next year? Yes, I did.

Am very much looking forward to seeing an amateur production of 13 in Stafford this evening. I hope a pro show does make it London - it was once of the highlights of my first visit to New York when it was on across the road from BE a few years ago.

I believe that this may be reference to Jason Robert Brown's forthcoming collaboration in 2012 with the National Youth Musical Theatre to put on productions of both '13' and 'Songs for a New World'. There are workshops of both productions in October (link below) in advance of auditions for collaborative productions in 2012. No details of dates or venues yet, but the NYMT website should be a good source when the process is underway.

Thanks for the link. We'll have to keep an eye on it as things develop. 8-)

Remember..this is a performance under the auspices of the BYMT - which is a summer camp program - not a West End production.

Near 1200 quid to have your child take part! That is near $2000!!

Is this based on the Nikki Reed movie?

No, they're not related. The musical is actually called '13 a New Musical' - music and lyrics by Jason Robert Brown and book by Dan Elish. The interest in the musical here on the Forum is in part because ex-Billy Corey Snide played alternate lead part (Evan) in the original Broadway cast after leaving Billy Elliot.
