Publicity for Des Moines
The Des Moines Register is already featuring BETM front and center in this article about the 2011/12 Broadway series at the Des Moines Civic Center.

Publicity for Des Moines, Iowa
This excerpt from Eastern Iowa Life was interesting (http://easterniowalife.com/2012/01/05/l ... -for-2012/). I didn't know there was a "real" Billy Elliot??
“Billy Elliot: The Musical, June 12 to 17, Civic Center of Greater Des Moines. Two Iowa City boys — Alex Ko and Marcus Pei — have danced their way to the title role on Broadway (Ko) and beyond (Pei). We won’t see them in Des Moines, but I’ve been waiting a loooong time to see this exhilarating musical about the boy who rose from a hardscrabble life in England to the upper echelons of ballet. Along with interviewing both local Billys, I got to interview the real Billy Elliot (Peter O’Brien) in April 2010, so I have three emotional connections to this play, besides loving the movie and dance in general."

Here is the real Peter O'Brien (Though it sounds more like a coincidence rather than the actual inspiration. I doubt Lee Hall ever came across Mr. O'Brien in his research for the story):

Here's a clever piece of publicity and a great way to get teens to see BETM:

I probably won't, because I feel wholely underqualified to review such a perfect show. However I will certainly post some thoughts and observations!!!

The Gazette, which serves Eastern Iowa, has a nice piece in today's paper about next week's visit by BETM to Des Moines:
