Publicity for Omaha

Post by porschesrule »

In this article published on the Omaha Performing Arts organization blog, and in anticipation of the show's stop there (Nov. 27 to Dec. 2, 2012), there's a discussion about what it took to transfer Billy Elliot from film to stage:

Here's a great interview with Rich Hebert in Broadway World to promote the Tour's arrival in Omaha. http://omaha.broadwayworld.com/article/ ... t-20121125

I might be wrong as there has been so much written about the show, but I don't remember having read or heard in an interview where a cast member has acknowledged the extent of commitment to the show that the "superfans" have:

"How have the audiences been responding to the show on the road?

They love it. We have audience members who have seen the show hundreds of times and have seen every Billy who has ever played the part, and they travel all around the country just to see us."

I had a chance to speak with him while the tour was in Boston, and we discussed the 'superfans'. He was genuinely appreciative. He is a very nice guy to speak with.

An interview with Nora Brennan on what it takes to be Billy -- including her short assessment of each of the current Tour Billys, where she found them and what she thinks of them:

http://www.omaha.com/article/20121122/G ... ly-elliott

It's also mentioned at the end of the article that Drew Minard will be travelling with the Tour starting with Omaha and will debut as Billy soon.

This is a nice article. The statement about Drew would be consistent with the tweet that Drew sent earlier that he is traveling today, along with a photo of himself and Mitchell.

Here's a terrific interview with Kylend Hetherington as the tour opens in Omaha:

I particularly like this quote from Kylend:

"The hardest thing to figure out his how to get through the show without killing yourself,” joked Kylend, who said the role is so hard, he really had to learn to pace himself to last.
