Publicity for Fayetteville
KFSM-TV, Channel 5, has this on their website about BETM's upcoming tour stop in Fayetteville:

Another website in Arkansas, the motherlode.com is running a contest to win a pair of tickets to the show and dinner for two at a local restaurant:

The Walton Arts Center blog is posting new information, including various videos (nothing new so far as seasoned Forum members go) but it's a gradual and ongoing way of keeping BETM in front of the Fayetteville area populace:

In conjunction with a contest being run by the Walton Center in Fayetteville, here's a blog post about the arrival of BETMUS there next week:

Thanks for all these links! They really are doing their best to keep Billy advertising going and all over, that's great to see!

This piece in The Free Weekly in Arkansas is perhaps the best article on the miner's strike of 1983/84 that I've seen written to explain to theatergoers the backdrop of BETM and is a great publicity piece in advance of the show's opening in Fayetteville next week:

I've been thinking that the tour stop this week in Fayetteville has a small town feel to it. This pic posted by one of the tour crew just solidifies that feeling. Remember the banners posted on Main St. when the circus or another entertainment event came to town -- same thing here:

And this -- contributing to the small town feel of this week's stop:

As I posted back in March in the Fayetteville thread, the Walton Arts Center holds just 1201 -- smaller even than the Imperial in NYC. But, to me, it's a great size for BETM. If the acoustics are good there, it should make for a great audience experience. Now the question is... can small theatres like this (perhaps the norm of the next leg of the tour if there is one) generate enough revenue to support the show. Another reason for perhaps going to a non union show to lower costs.

Re: Publicity for Fayetteville
It does seem kind of funny to think of this very British show playing in "the Ozarks" of northern Arkansas. Having spent many summers working at a camp in south Missouri and having visited Fayetteville several times the past few years, I can say that it's one of the prettiest parts of the country that I've been to. Admittedly, the landscape is more impressive in the warm weather months when the trees are full and the hills sport a thick forest of green, or in the fall when the leaves turn red, yellow and orange. But I think the cast and crew will enjoy the college town atmosphere (it's home to the University of Arkansas) as well as the small town charm.porschesrule wrote:I've been thinking that the tour stop this week in Fayetteville has a small town feel to it.
