What's so funny about that line? Guess the landing means a porch...now I guess that's funny.

The line is sometimes, "I've got a sausage roll in the bathroom." Either way, the joke is that she's old and likes to hide food for herself in weird places around the house. :D Hope that helps.

The landing is the area on top of the stairs, with bedrooms and bathroom off. It often has a cupboard which is used for linens etc. I've never heard it used for any other area. (I know Grandma's movements don't make literal sense, but then they wouldn't have 12 chairs in the kitchen either would they?)

Sometimes a landing is a porch, but Billy says he found the pasty in the airing cupboard, which is Geordie parlance for a linen closet, so one can conclude that this landing is one between two flights of stairs.
