This isn't a review, but a news account that mentions some minor trouble the show had on opening night. They needed more electricity.

The Julia Morgan Playhouse on College Avenue was plunged into darkness on the opening night of Billy Elliot, according to Berkeleyside’s Emilie Raguso. Theatergoers had just returned from intermission and the lights went out mid-scene, around 9:10 p.m.

Here's a very complimentary review from someone who loved the movie but didn't care for the Broadway production. He describes Parker as one who "exudes the sense of a burgeoning talent; crude in his first dance attempts, but bursting with unbridled enthusiasm and daring."

This is certainly interesting:

Matthew Dean just scored his first national tour with NEWSIES, so you can bank on the fact that BPH has some excellent talent in this production.

Trying to understand what exactly this means. The NEWSIES tour ended last October and regional productions are starting this year.

I believe the article meant NEWSIES at Phoenix Theatre, where Matty played Billy Elliot........it is set to run there Nov 15 - Dec 31st 2017.
